Government and God
In the United States we hear often the phrase "separation of church and state." There are many who are eloquent with respect to this. You can go to Google.com and type this phrase into the search bar to investigate what has been said.
It is very strange that children in school get into trouble when bringing a Bible to school, choosing to create a biblical picture in art class, or praying while the U.S. Senate employs a chaplain with taxpayer money and each day is opened in prayer. Our U.S. Constitution was written so that the majority could not dictate to the minority. One component of this is that each state has two U.S. senators regardless of population. Unfortunately, a minority of one can end up dictating to the majority via court appeals.
This is our problem in the U.S.
But
when God knocks on the door of each nation, only those in that nation can answer. So what if a nation is Muslim or atheist or secular or Hindu or Buddhist or "you didn't mention my religion?"
Why should any nation bow down to the God of the Bible and consider him?
I will answer by way of my favorite joke (I do not smoke). "
Why do you smoke your cigar that way?" "Because the other way burns my tongue."
If not already, we are coming into a time when living life while ignoring the God of the Bible will no longer be without consequences.
Our power to hurt and destroy each other is much greater than ever before in history. The population of the earth is greater than ever before. While at one point a nation could act in any way it chose even to the hurt of others, all of human kind was not hurt.
Our actions now have global implications and effect both instant and long term. There has to be
a point at which even though we do not choose to acknowledge God's existence or his ownership of this planet,
he will "come down here" and make changes. Some of these changes will resemble judgments being executed.
Otherwise, we will destroy ourselves.
I do totally understand you might have disdain at this point. But
if you are open-minded, read now so that even if you do not want to obey God now or cannot see any reason to do so,
you will be able to make corrections quickly later if and when you do see it. You can be in alignment with God, out of alignment with God, or a mixture of both in and out of alignment with God.
The lesson of the Bible is, do not willingly put yourself or your nation out of alignment with God.
What follows are portions of the Bible I believe God wants us to deal with.
